While we've had some confirmation that official details about the Nintendo Switch 2 are on the way within the next year, it's still a good time to grab the Nintendo Switch itself. Handheld consoles are big right now. They're useful for those who travel frequently, want a distraction on their daily commute or just like gaming in bed. The Switch is one of the best options out there. This hybrid console has three different versions, and while big sales are rare, Switch deals can be found if you know where to look.

Nintendo Switch game deals

A bunch of great Switch games are on sale; some digital and some physical. Here are the best Nintendo Switch game deals on Nintendo's site, but there are also other notable Switch game deals at other retailers, sometimes for even less.

Nintendo Switch physical game deals worth grabbing:

Amazon is currently offering $25 off when you spend $250 or more on select items, including a ton of Nintendo Switch hardware and games. That means saving $25 off the Nintendo Switch consoles below while adding another $50 worth of games or accessories to your Nintendo Switch Lite order will also effectively make the console just $175, too. Just remember those items have to be part of the Amazon sale to qualify.

Target/CNET

While it doesn't seem like you're saving money here, you're also getting Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which can run as much as $60 online, for free. This Switch comes in a lovely shade of pink and features the game that got a lot of us through the COVID lockdowns.

Deals on Switch accessories

Amazon/CNET

The PowerA enhanced controller is built to mimic the feel of the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, and it does a good job of things on that end. Along with having a decent battery life and a rechargeable battery built-in, it also has motion controls and special thumbsticks that prioritize comfort and control.

Amazon/CNET

This controller comes in a couple of styles, with both the Mario and Zelda versions being the cheapest at the moment. It's a good replacement for the left Joy-Con and, aside from looking good, can be a lot cheaper than buying official Joy-Con controllers if you need another one for any reason.

Lexar/CNET

Memory upgrades might not be the fanciest thing you can buy, but you'll appreciate them in the long run. This microSD card from Lexar has a massive 1TB capacity, which is enough for a lot of Switch games, and it even has Mario colors.

What should you look for in a Nintendo Switch deal?

In addition to looking for direct price drops on the Nintendo Switch itself, broaden your search to include Nintendo Switch bundles. Since the console alone rarely falls far from its retail price, these are some of the best ways to save on related accessories that you would have bought anyway. When it comes to Nintendo Switch bundles that include a game, it's a good idea to check what the game costs separately to ensure you're getting the best value.

When are the best Nintendo Switch deals available?

Great Nintendo Switch deals are rare, but the best times to find a discount are during major sales like Amazon Prime Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Which retailers usually offer the best Nintendo Switch deals?

For most people, the search for a great Nintendo Switch deal should start at Amazon or a big-box retailer such as Best Buy, Target or Walmart. These major retailers are most likely to offer direct discounts and bundles, and they often match each other's deals during major sales. Gaming-specific retailers, including GameStop in the US and Game in the UK, are also worth keeping tabs on.
